SNI

August 25, 2009 at 3:10 am (Uncategorized)

Okay, whenever I get an SNI (shiny new idea) for a book, I will post it up here so the whole world can see it! *echoes* Right now, I am suffering from a crippling disease called SNIS (Shiny New Idea Syndrome). I randomly get whacked in the head with them at most unpleasant times. Like, let’s say taking Final Exams, or in the shower. Yes, both of those times it has happened.

Okay, so I got a pretty sick SNI right now, so here it is:

A girl accidently opens a door to a far away planet, and she stumbles in with no way out. The planet is bizarre: it seems to be a city the size of Rhode Island, and walls surrounding the city protect it from the dense jungles that have taken over this odd world. But the humans don’t like her messing around in this world, and will do anything to kill her so no one else discovers this secret world. While on the run from these aliens, she discovers secrets about this planet and the race of aliens that seem to be the dominant species. She finds out that humans have known about this alien planet for quite some time, and there has been a peace between them. But this girl has sent the aliens into a fit of rage and a war erupts between the aliens, with the girl trapped in the middle. And, with the help of a secret organization of these rebel aliens and some of the local species, she can maybe prevent the war from spilling into the earth and destroying all of humanity.

Ok, so there are some similarities with Creatures of Night in there (that’s my Work in Progress, or WIP, for your information) but not really. I could straighten out those too.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. A fellow twiftie, Hannah Moskowitz, has her debut novel, Break, coming out August 25th. It is an awesome story, about a kid, Jonah, who is on a mission to break every bone in his body. Great idea. And my buds at teenswritingforteens.com are having a contest to receive an autographed copy! Yay! So go on down there and enter the contest!

Livin’ it UP!

August 24, 2009 at 1:14 am (Uncategorized)

So, my posts have been aimed more at writing, the grand total of like, six of them. Whoever reads this blog may think I have no life and just sit there and write about alien invasion and mental hospitals all day. Don’t ya?

WRONG!

Yeah, I loooooove to write, and my posts may sound like I’m all serious all the time, but really, I’m not. I like to get out and do stuff. This may surprise the non-existent reader I have, but I have a life. Weird, right? So, what do I like to do? Well, I really love to write. I guess that’s understandable. But I am not disabled and limited to my macbook and a TV in my spacious room. No, I have more than this, youngling. I have lots of friends (I hope.), and I really enjoy hanging out with them. They’re cool as cats. Let’s see. Since I’m a teen, I enjoy surfing the web and the computer, as you see I have a blog. It takes someone pretty stupid to not realize that. Duh!

Okay, I’m really into sports, too. I like tennis, baseball, and basketball a lot. I think I’m best at baseball, but I really enjoy basketball. Tennis is cool, but I’ve only been playing for 3 years, so I’m not as good at it as the other sports. I’ve been playing baseball since I could walk and have been playing basketball for fun a lot, but started playing rec when I was 8. And, as I’m writing this, I think I should type this in my ‘about yourself’ box, but I have nothing to blog about, so just bare with me. It’ll be over shortly.

Okay, so you know me. I’m going to make an oath for the start of school to post something up here TWICE A WEEK. It’ll be hard, but I think I can grind it out if I try.

Your Dreams

August 7, 2009 at 11:37 pm (Uncategorized)

So, you wanna be a writer? Do you, now? Really, really, do you? Okay, then. So do I. What are your dreams? Oh, my dreams? Well, let me think about that. I really adore science-fiction. I kind of consider myself a geek over it. The very thought of something great and powerful, like a time-machine, or unique powers, or a race of aliens, just absolutely fascinates me. My dream would be to write a good science-fiction novel, maybe throw in a sequel or two, and get it published. Then I want it to be a best-seller. Not like a barely breaks the top 100 and stays there for two weeks, but I mean a Percy Jackson, Ender’s Game sort of thing. Like that. I want to win a really prestigious award. I would be the youngest person ever to win it. And I want that record to stay there for a really, really long time. Then, after a few years, I want that really popular series to be made into movies. And I want those to gross at least $700 million worldwide. A billion would be nice, too. And after that, I want to live a long, happy life as an author. And have a nice family. And die in my bed, with my bookshelf next to me. Some of them are mine. Some of them are by my favorite authors. Stephen King. CS Lewis. JK Rowling. And probably some other person that will be famous in eighty years. That’s how long I want to live. 93. I want to have written at least 100 novels, that is my life goal. And I want children, and grand-children, and great-grand-children who become authors. That’s my dream. But dreams are just dreams. Maybe they won’t come true. They probably won’t. Some of them involve luck. You can’t make luck. But if you try your hardest at anything and everything, it can’t hurt you’re chances of that dream coming true. So what’s your dream?

The Taste…

August 5, 2009 at 5:35 pm (Uncategorized)

Okay, I haven’t been around for a while. I was at camp. But I’m back now (unfortunately). And really, something super sweetlicious (whatever) happened while I was there, canoeing the lake and smashing tennis balls. Well, I’m an avid blogger for TWFT, the coolest place ever. And a small-scale publisher, who publishes ONLY TEENS picked up on a blog post of mine. The owner, Andrea something, said she would like to include it into a monthly newsletter that goes out to aspiring teen writers.

So, I start spazzing out and realize that I’ve had a taste of being published. It was pretty awesome. I went to my homies at AW and we had sort of a little debate over whether this Youthful Wisdom Press was legit or not. We decided it was, but there were a few gray spots here and there. So I wouldn’t be querying to them, but how much can a blog post give away? Not much, if you ask me. So I get the newsletter on the 1st of August and read it. I’m the feature article! So I’ll have to show this to all my friends when I go back to school, because some think I lied about this whole writer thing (well, those aren’t really my friends, more like classmates, whatever). Yeah, so it was pretty awesome. I got a little taste of being published, and it was pretty sweet.
